Family activities like face painting are perfect rainy day activities during lockdown.
Make face painting more than just a birthday party and Halloween tradition by experimenting with new ideas. We have gathered a list of quick and easy face paint ideas for kids that even an older sibling or parent who isn’t artistic can do.
The Fast And The Furious Fox
A common hobby is to paint cats on their faces, but for this brilliant fox design you only need three colors- orange, white, and black. It is a simple design that needs simple tools: a sponge or large brush for covering large areas, and a finer brush to add fine details.
Success tips:
Using orange and yellow, create an ombre effect (concentrate the yellow around the eyes, and gradually make the orange darker as you approach the edges).
Playfulness In A Puppy
It isn’t necessary to have a lot of color equipment or artistic ability in order to turn children into puppies with this simple trick. In order of application, you should apply white face paint first, followed by brown patches and black details.
Success Tips:
One eye should have a circle painted around it, and the other eye should have a long, thin eyebrow patch painted over it. Finding the right balance between large and small patches on both sides of the face is essential. However, the design should not be symmetrical.
Join the nose tip and lips using the black in the center of the upper lip. The fur effect can be enhanced by adding some short, black brushstrokes for some small black dots on the upper lip, by adding some short, black brushstrokes on the edges of the patches, where the whiskers would be.
Slithering Snake
If you have some googly eyes in your craft box, you can use them for this face paint design. A snake’s ‘face’ is made by first painting around its mouth a green circle, then drawing a green line across its chin, and then curving the line upwards so that it snakes around the snake. Googly eyes can be made by carefully painting a black outline around the green shape, then adhering the eye circles to the upper lip. They only need to stick out their tongues and hiss to transform into snakes.
Beautiful Butterflies Face Painting
For kids’ birthday parties and for garden parties, butterflies are a popular decoration choice. They can even be used to decorate for Halloween. Face painters can browse the Internet for hundreds of ideas and designs to choose from, then customize them to match their color scheme. Check out the following three designs on MomJunction for further inspiration.
Success Tips:
Right over the right ear, paint a light color, such as violet, blue, or pink. Copy the ‘B’ or ‘3’ shape on the left if you find it helps.
If you want to make a design more elegant and delicate, consider using white instead of black as outline and decoration. Make dots on the wings, and then draw thin lines around the edges of each wing. Make the antennae by painting two thin lines with dots at the top, and the nose by drawing a thick line across the middle.
